Ice, Flying, & Dragon Types

Ice Types

Ice type Pokemon are not very common, and there are very few Pokemon that are just Ice types (for example Walrein, the Pokemon above, is an Ice/Water type), but with the release of the Black and White versions of the game, there have been a few more Ice types added.  Because there are not many individual typed Ice type Pokemon, it is hard to find generalizations for their stats.  The advantage of Ice types however, is that they are the only type (other than Dragon) that is good against the mighty Dragon types, which can come in handy when closer to the end of the game.  Ice types are a unique addition to any team.

Strong Against: Grass, Flying, Dragon, Ground
Bad Against: Fire, Water, Ice, Steel
Weak Against: Fire, Fighting, Rock, Steel
Resistant To: Ice

Ice types may be strong against quite a few types, but they are not resistant to anything but their own type, which isn't very good for defense.  It may be better to have an Ice type with a second type as well, or to just have a Pokemon know Ice type moves.

Ice Types: Dewgong, Cloyster, Smoochum, Jynx, Lapras, Sneasel, Swinub, Piloswine, Mamoswine, Snorunt, Glailie, Froslass, Delibird, Spheal, Sealeo, Walrein, Snover, Abomasnow, Glaceon, Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Cubchoo, Beartic, Cryoganal.

Flying Types

Flying type Pokemon are fairly abundant, and a common trait among them is Speed.  Flying types come in very great varieties, and there is only one Pokemon that is just a Flying type (no secondary type).  Flying types only have three weaknesses, and are resistant to three types (and one doesn't even effect them), making it an excellent to have with a second type to cover weaknesses.

Strong Against: Grass, Fighting, Bug
Bad Against: Electric, Rock, Steel
Weak Against: Electric, Ice, Rock
Resistant To: Grass, Fighting, Bug, Ground (no effect)

Flying Types: Charizard, Butterfree, Pidgey,  Spearow,  Zubat,  Farfetch'd, Doduo,  Scyther, Gyrados, Aerodactyl, Dragonite, Hoothoot,  Ledyba, Togetic, Natu,  Hoppip, Yanma, Murkrow, Gligar, Delibird, Mantine, Skarmory, Beautifly, Tailow,  Wingull, Ninjask, Swablu, Tropius, Starly, Mothim, Combee, Drifloon, Chatot, Mantyke, Pidove, Woobat, Sigilyph, Archen, Ducklett, Rufflet, Vullaby.

Dragon Types

Don't let the cute picture fool you, Dragon types are fearsome, rare, and a great addition to any team.  Dragon types are hard to find, and very hard to train.  They tend to take a long time to level up, and evolve at a high level.  To make matters worse, the don't tend to be any good until they are fully evolved.  It can be an immense task trying to train a Dragon type Pokemon, but if you can pull it off, you will have a very strong addition to your team, with only two type weaknesses.

Strong Against: Dragon
Bad Against: Steel
Weak Against: Ice, Dragon
Resistant To: Fire, Water, Grass, Electric

Although they aren't good against anything but themselves, Dragon types have resistance to four elemental types, which can help out quite a bit in a fight.

Dragon Types: Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Kingdra, Vibrava, Flygon, Altaria, Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence, Gible, Gabite, Garchomp, Axew, Fraxure, Haxorus, Druddigon, Deino, Zwellous, Hydreigon.

  2. Oh yes, he is an adorable little monster; his name is Gible, well actually in this case this Gible would be a SHE. You can tell by the fin, if it were to have a notch in it, it would be a male. Gible is a Dragon-Ground type and originates from the fourth generation of Pokemon (from the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games).
Perhaps that was more information than you needed, but I am the Pokemon professor, so I'm used to giving lectures *laughs*
